Healing The Unseen Wound

Healing the Unseen Wound Inc. has a clearly defined mission to provide recently separated combat veterans with a carefully managed, long term program that will help them develop the professional, psychological and inter-personal skills needed to succeed in civilian life. During their engagement with us qualified veterans will receive skills training in recognized civilian trades, opportunities to serve in community based service projects, sustained esprit de corps with their fellow veterans and accredited PTSD/Trauma support to address their mental health concerns.

Our first class of student-veterans will be engaged within the San Diego region and will be provided the trilogy of reintegration – engagement, employment and healing. As we graduate our “First Squad” of student-veterans we will validate our planning assumptions and demonstrate the viability of this concept to other military hubs and communities. This initiative must be supported on a community level.

As we close 2011 we will recruit our first squad of student-veterans, engage our board, management team and supporters, raise minimum seed funding, and develop a process to measure our effectiveness during the program.

Our first program will be named in honor of a young combat veteran who took their own life, after returning home from service in a combat zone.
